Blurbs...

The "firsts" always have a special thing about them, like your first day at school, first day at work, first resignation, etc. etc. and etc. Now how about the first day of Ramadan? My pals sent me a lot of SMS asking how I was on the first day. My reply? "Oh nothing special, just that I wasn't interested in food (as I predicted) and that I had just made a unique bond with the bathroom after futoor/iftar.

Weight loss in Ramadan? It's possible. I don't know why but as recent as last year's Ramadan I lost interest in food and consequently, lost a couple of pounds. Even when I'm faced with my favorites on the table I really just don't feel like indulging. I just eat to get through to another day of fasting. Of course I feel hungry, but then that does that mean that this time, I'm needing food of another kind?

This is the first Ramadan without my grandmother (paternal side). The entire house misses her cooking. :(

Since I work in a non-Muslim government institution, my work schedule will not change in Ramadan. I often get off from work at 5:30 PM. That could mean, possibly, that there would be days when I would have to break my fast while riding public transport.

Food for thought: is Ramadan about FASTING or FEASTING?!?

Have a meaningful week ahead!!! Ramadan Kareem!
