Pissed Off.

Pissed Off!

Being a teacher (and a human being) of course has its share of frustrating moments. I've been pretty pissed off this week so I decided to take it to my blog. Here's my "Piss Off" List:

1. Students WHO DON'T USE THEIR BRAINS. Yeah I know, there are students who aren't mentally endowed or brilliant but goodness,it's worse when they don't have COMMON SENSE. Like this student yesterday who came to my class FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MONTHS after we began classes. He was redirected by the University Database because he had to take a subject under my department. What's made it more annoying was the fact that he didn't even bother to ask questions to the authorities earlier, and so a week before I'm ready to give exams, this nitwit shows up.

2. Young people who show off their lack of manners. . These days I'm wondering whether parents raise their kids right because a lot of these young people don't even observe the very basic tenets of courtesy anymore. They don't see anything wrong in crowding up in narrow hallways, in shouting in classroom corridors during class hours. In playing their music in office halls during office hours (duh!? what are headphones for, anyway?) etc. etc. etc. I often tell them (and they quiet down when I do) that their behavior often tells others how good or bad their parents raised them.

3. People who don't know how to fall in line, who overtake all the time when driving...yakety yak! A lot of people don't have patience anymore :(. And they don't realize that in life there will always be someone ahead of you and that overtaking while driving can cause accidents. And if there's a queue, for God's sake, line up!

4. Folks and acquaintances who ask too many private questions.. I'm not that close to most relatives and I believe that you have to be personally close to somebody before you ask him/her such not-so-public questions about love life and pay and whatever else.

5. Students who don't seem to have an idea that homework is part of student life. "Oh come on, don't tell me that being a student means all you do is sit in class and do tests and play with your PSP the rest of the day?" I have this idea: what if the government mandates that students have to really fight, REALLY FIGHT with their brains to get educated? Only those who know the worth of a good education would definitely remain.

END OF RANTING!
